Eyes on Shroud of the Avatar – Rare Items in PC Games – The Cabinet of Virtue

Hello Avatars.

-The Collector-

He is a person who has a passion to gather and collect.

And one rule applies to all with that passion – the rarer the object of desire is you have in your collection, the more desirable it becomes for others to acquire it.

But what about rare virtual items in an upcoming PC Game – like Shroud of the Avatar?

Lets take a closer look:

The Cabinet of Virtues.

You got this virtual item if you pledged an amount of money towards Shroud of the Avatar during a Telethon Event. This event went on for 2 days from 23 to 24th August in 2013!!

It was a live streaming from a hardcore Ultima fan calling himself: Rustic Dragon.

He later got employed directly from Portalarium that is developing the game. A dream coming true for him. 🙂

But back to “The Cabinet of Virtue”

You can imagine that as you could only get this item for 2 days, and that not all did follow a fan made telethon, this item will be very limited as soon as the game will launch.

It will be considered a extremly RARE Item.

Bu it will only exist within the game. It will stop to exist one day as the servers go down. It will be reproducible at will anytime, if the game developers decide so.

So hard to imagine that maybe one day players will pay crazy amounts like 1000 Dollars for it.

But do not do your calculations without considering the power

“to envy someone else of having something you do not have”

Examples:

A Battleship in the PC game “Eve Online” once sold for roughly 9000 $, a virtual sword of life sold in the Game “Legend of Mir III” for 870 $ and the highest ever sold

virtual item was an entertainment planet in a social pc game for 6 MILLION DOLLARS !

So everything is possible as long as we envy the owner of an item.

Does not matter what item, how long it will exist and how unimportant it actually is.

It does not even matter if it at the end is only a Cabinet you will be able to place in your in-game virtual House to show off to players , whom the most will not even know that this is a rare item.

But now I need to tell you a secret….

I really, really would love to get my hands on one of those “Cabinets of Virtue” .
